What is prompt engineering?
Formulating a good instruction for an AI model: role, goal, context, examples and form.
Definition
In one paragraph.
Prompt engineering is formulating a good instruction for an AI model: role, goal, context, examples and desired form. Still a useful skill — and at the same time no longer the whole story: as AI systems do bigger work, the centre of gravity shifts to context engineering, managing everything the model sees.
Why it matters.
The core components
A strong prompt is constructed, not guessed: role, goal, context, examples, form. We train this in module 02.
Where it ends
One good prompt does not fix messy context. The environment around the question weighs more than the question itself.
What came after
Context engineering: curating what the model sees. The logical next step for whoever masters prompts.
We wrote a full dossier on it, with worked examples. Read Context Engineering
